RX
REFRACTORY COATING CUTS FUEL BILLS
The
glazed surface of RX Coating reflects heat much more than the usual
refractory surface. This heat reflection back into the heat
source reduces radiated heat to the outside. This sharp
reduction of radiated heat greatly increases greatly increases the
efficiency of the heating unit.
There is a second heat saving. The non-porous glazed RX
Refractory Coating prevents hot gases from escaping through the
refractory, it also prevents cool gases from entering the heating unit
through the refractory. Thus whether the unit is operated under
negative or positive pressure, gas movements in or out that can
greatly reduce heating efficiency, are almost eliminated.

PROTECT
YOUR REFRACTORY SURFACE FOR BIG SAVINGS
There
is scarcely any material in your operation that takes a greater
beating than the refractory in your boilers, furnaces, kilns,
crucibles, ladles and other equipment. It is subject to
temperature extremes, chemical attack and abrasion, vibration, slag
attack – and most of this wear and tear occurs at very high
temperatures. Refractory replacement may be a large and perhaps
a too frequently occurring expense. RX Refractory Coating
provides protection for your refractory surface from:

SLAG
ADHERENCE MINIMIZED
In
many applications, slagging is a major cause of refractory
deterioration. The slag penetrates the pore structure, locking
tightly into the refractory, then builds up a thick layer. When
the slag is removed a portion of the refractory surface is removed in
the process, thus forming a new surface for slag formation.
Refractory surfaces coated with RX Refractory Coating have no open
pores or cracks, therefore slag cannot adhere tightly and is easily
removed without damage to the surface.
RX Refractory Coatings are a scientifically compounded blend
of selected refractory materials and glazing fluxes. These
products have proven themselves effective in a wide range of
applications for over 35 years. RX Refractory Coatings can be
applied to any type of refractory surface including: fire brick,
insulating brick, castable, plastic or rammed. When the coating
reaches its glazing temperature, it fuses into the refractory surface
forming a very durable glazed, seamless, impervious coating.

THERMAL
SHOCK EXTREMELY DESTRUCTIVE
Quick
temperature changes in refractory materials, causing the hot working
face to expand and contract faster than the balance of the material,
are responsible for stress cracking. Internal strains, due to
these temperature differentials, cause surface splits and spalls which
then expose a new surface, also subject to spalling.
RX Refractory Coating greatly reduces surface spalling
because its high surface glaze reduces the surface vs. depth
temperature differential and thus reduces internal strains. And,
since RX Coating is normally pliable at high temperatures, small
cracks that might develop are immediately sealed.

CHEMICAL
ATTACK
Such
chemicals as sodium, iron and alkaline materials attack the free
silica in a refractory surface. Even at low temperatures this
forms an eutectic and the refractory begins to deteriorate.
Also, refractory materials usually absorb some of the chemical
products of combustion. This changes the coefficient of
expansion between the surface and deeper materials, setting up strains
that can cause spalling. RX Refractory Coating provides a
smooth, impervious surface which completely stops chemical attack.
